Web27 Jul 2016 · This study explored the relationship between Baumrind’s parenting prototypes and the academic achievement, judged by grade point average (GPA), of Korean American adolescents. It also examined the relative contribution to youth’s academic achievement of perceived maternal and paternal warmth and control and involvement in schooling. WebBased on these dimensions, Baumrind identified three categories of parenting styles [ 1 ]. The Authoritative parent shows high levels of control, coupled with high levels of warmth. Authoritative parents exercise significant authority over their children’s behavior but at the same time they do this with warmth and affection.
