Old iron designs like Fals and g3 clones are reliable and fun, but they are heavy. The M1A clone of an M14 is a fun reliable and accurate rifle right out of the box and fairly available. A nice .308 AR-15 checks a lot of boxes as well.

WebDec 20, 2016 · I used a 5.5" CAR15 flash hider and cut it down to around 4.5" and cut 4 grooves in it to make a 4 prong flash hider. Happy how it turned out, be better if I had a mill but used a drill press, files and a dremel tool. Cold blued it after. With it hand tight it will make the barrel 16.125" after its pinned.

You can use an HK flat for a CETME build, you'll just have to use G3 mags. I prefer RTG flats myself because they look correct. But either will work fine.

The barrel was never meant to be replaced or detached/reattached to the receiver.
